Andrew Hunter Brown is the founding principal of Brown Architecture Company, a full service architecture practice based in Brooklyn, New York. The firm specializes in the craft of transforming existing buildings and structures for new use and improved performance. Andrew is a licensed architect in New York State and a Certified Passive House Designer.
Prior to establishing his own firm, Andrew spent over a decade at several leading design firms in New York City including Gluck+, CO Adaptive, Field Operations, and Marvel. He developed an expertise in adaptive reuse leading projects such as the transformation of an historic ferry terminal on the Manhattan waterfront, and the reconstruction of a landmarked bathhouse in the Bronx. In parallel, Andrew has developed interests in design-build project delivery, and high performance building science principles.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Waterloo, and a Master’s in Architecture from McGill University. In addition to his work in professional practice, Andrew has held a position as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute’s school of Interior Design since 2021.
